PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast slugger Brandon Parker has been named MACJC Player of the Week after a barrage of home runs.
Parker, a freshman right fielder from West Harrison, slugged three home runs and drove in nine runs as Mississippi Gulf Coast went 3-1. Parker had hits in all four games and homered in the first three.
He went 2-for-3 in 13-0 and 8-4 wins at Nunez and 2-for-3 again in a 10-6 loss to Dyersburg State, which is ranked fifth in NJCAA Division I. He went 1-for-2 in an 8-7 win in the nightcap against Dyersburg State.
Parker is tied with teammate Dylan Menhennett for the national lead in home runs, and he's tied for fifth with 18 RBI.
It's the second consecutive week a Bulldogs player has won the award. Menhennett won it last week after a four-home run performance.
