Jonathan Parker begins his coaching career at Gulf Coast, having been hired in August 2019. He’s a New Orleans native who has won an NJCAA championship playing in the MACJC.
Parker is a graduate of Brother Martin High School, where he was a four-year letterman and two-year team captain on the baseball team. He also earned three letters on the football team, where he was also twice a team captain. Parker earned All-District honors twice and won The Clarion Herald Linebacker Award in the New Orleans Catholic League.
He went on to play two years at Jones County in 2016-17, where he was again team captain twice and helped lead his team to the NJCAA Division II national championship as a sophomore. Parker was named MVP of the national championship tournament and was on the All-Tournament Team.
Parker went to Louisiana Tech for his junior season and started 16 games while playing in eight others. His senior season at Southeastern Louisiana saw him bat .268.
Parker graduated with a bachelor’s in general studies and a minor in business and marketing.
