Balanced offense leads Bulldogs by Bishop State

Mississippi Gulf Coast put six players in double figures Thursday night, as the Bulldogs won 83-61 at Bishop State in Mobile.

"I thought we played really well," Gulf Coast coach Wendell Weathers said. "It's the best we've played so far this year."

LaRaymond Spivery (Fr, Lucedale/George County) led Gulf Coast with 21 points. DaJuan Moorer (Fr, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic) and Dedoch Chan (Fr, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) had 13 each, and Jaylen Peters (So, Pass Christian/Pass Christian) added 12.

Qua'darius Green (So, McComb/McComb) and Keevon Oney (Fr, Gulfport/Gulfport) chipped in 10 each for the Bulldogs, who won their third straight to open the season.

"We're capable of that," Weathers said. "At the end of the day, if you've got five or six guys in double figures consistently, it'll be hard for somebody to guard you."

Gulf Coast returns to action at home Monday and Tuesday in the MGCCC Thanksgiving Classic. The Bulldogs play Baton Rouge on Monday at 6:45 p.m., and Southern-Shreveport at 1:45 the next day.
