MGCCC drops first game of season

PERKINSTON — A cold-shooting Mississippi Gulf Coast dropped its opener in its MGCCC Thanksgiving Classic to Baton Rouge 70-55.

Only one Bulldog scored in double figures. Qua'darius Green (So, McComb/McComb) had 13 points, 11 of which came in the first half.

Gulf Coast falls to 3-1 on the season, while Baton Rouge is 3-4.

The Bears made nine 3-pointers, while the Bulldogs managed six. Two of those came in the last minute after the game had been decided.

Gulf Coast also missed a slew of attempts at the rim.

Gulf Coast returns to action Tuesday against Southern-Shreveport. The game is scheduled to start at 1:45 p.m. The Jaguars lost 69-55 to Northeast Mississippi in the first game Monday night.
