DaJuan Moorer had a double-double and three other Mississippi Gulf Coast players scored in double figures in a 97-75 win against the William Carey JV in Hattiesburg.
"I thought we played pretty well for the most part," Gulf Coast coach Wendell Weathers said. "We were pretty solid on offense, and our defense was good. We dominated everything on the boards, which we should have."
The Bulldogs had a 48-33 rebound advantage and shot 54.5 percent from the floor. They held William Carey to 40.6 percent shooting from the field.
Moorer (Fr, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic) had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Dedoch Chan (Fr, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) just missed a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Tyson led Gulf Coast's best shooting night from the 3-point line with a 4-for-7 performance. The Bulldogs made 7 of 16 (43.8 percent).
"We were more selective on what we shot," Weathers said. "We didn't really take a bad one or take one in a hurry. Tyson caught the ball out there on the wing and shot it just like a free throw."
Gulf Coast improves to 5-1, while the Crusaders fall to 0-6. The Bulldogs return to action Thursday at Delgado in New Orleans. They return home Dec. 6, when Delgado visits Perkinston.
