Bulldogs get back to No. 1

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast is back atop the rankings in golf, being named No. 1 in the Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll today.

The Bulldogs, who went to Meridian this week and defeated the No. 5 Eagles in an MACJC event after a four-hole playoff on their home course, had been ranked second behind South Mountain.

South Mountain is second, Murray State is third and Tyler is fourth. Meridian is the only other MACJC school in the poll.

Gulf Coast also moved back atop the Golfstat rankings this week. Tyler is second, Murray State is third and Meridian is fourth.

The Bulldogs play in the Carey Collegiate Classic over spring break. The two-day tournament at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg starts Monday. It features a field filled with strong NAIA teams, including No. 15 William Carey, the hosts.
