PERKINSTON – Skyler Flowers' return helped bring even more good news to No. 18 Mississippi Gulf Coast's 9-0 win over Hinds.
The Bulldogs (10-1 MACJC) got their No. 1 singles player back after missing several weeks with an injury. He beat Daniel Yepez 6-3, 6-3.
"It felt great," Flowers said. "I miss it, especially watching the team play all the time. It makes you really want to be out there."
Flowers didn't play his usual No. 1 doubles, but it didn't stop the Bulldogs from sweeping the three doubles matches.
"He's got a lot of experience," Gulf Coast coach Gary Bourgeois said. "He got to the finals of state, the finals of nationals in the back draw. He's our team leader, so everybody is very excited. He lifts the morale of the team and gives them an extra push, which you saw today."
Gulf Coast immediately returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Jones for a key match. First serve is at 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs also play Wednesday at Copiah-Lincoln.
