MGCCC men blast Holmes

Mississippi Gulf Coast powered past Holmes on Thursday in men's tennis action, sweeping all nine points.


The Bulldogs' doubles teams dropped only one game in winning three matches. No. 1 team Travis Bell (So, Jackson/Calloway) and Austin Vos (Fr, Perth, Australia/Applecross) and No. 2 team John Murphy (So, Mobile, Ala./McGill-Toolen) and Noah Rowell (So, Wiggins/Stone) each won 8-0.


Evan Chubb (Fr, Biloxi/St. Patrick) and Reid Cudd (So, Wiggins/Stone) won 8-1 at No. 3.


Austin Moore (So, Petal/Petal) stepped in at No. 6 singles to win his match 6-0, 6-0. Bell, Vos, Murphy, Rowell and Cudd also won in straight sets.


The Bulldogs return to action Feb. 22 when they entertain Coastal Alabama-South. First serve at the MGCCC Tennis Complex is at 1 p.m.
