No. 15 Gulf Coast pounds JCJC

No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast powered to its sixth straight win to open the season Tuesday, blowing out Jones County 8-1 in Ellisville.

 

The Bulldogs are now 3-0 in the MACJC.

 

Travis Bell (So, Jackson/Calloway) and Austin Vos (Fr, Perth, Australia/Applecross) combined to win No. 1 singles 8-3, and Noah Rowell (So, Wiggins/Stone) and John Murphy (So, Mobile, Ala./McGill-Toolen) won 8-6 at No. 2. Reid Cudd (So, Wiggins/Stone) and Evan Chubb (Fr, Biloxi/St. Patrick) dropped only one game at No. 3 doubles.

 

Vos, Bell, Murphy, Cudd and Rowell won their singles matches in straight sets.

 

Gulf Coast plays Thursday at Copiah-Lincoln in another MACJC showdown. First serve in Wesson is at 1 p.m.
