PERKINSTON — No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast completed an undefeated MACJC season after the Bulldogs defeated No. 19 Copiah-Lincoln 7-2 Wednesday at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.
"The guys are playing strong. We've come back from some injuries at the top of the lineup," Gulf Coast coach Gary Bourgeois said. "Now we've got our lineup at full strength, and that was evident today."
The Bulldogs improved to 13-1, 10-0.
John Murphy (So, Mobile, Ala./McGill-Toolen) and Reid Cudd (So, Wiggins/Stone) won two matches in their last appearance at the MGCCC Tennis Complex. Travis Bell (So, Jackson/Calloway) and Austin Moore (So, Petal/Petal) claimed one win each.
"We're trying to get ready for state, mentally and physically," Bourgeois said. "It was hot today, but I was happy with our conditioning. We've been working hard on mental toughness and patience, and I saw a lot of that today."
Gulf Coast plays its final regular-season match Thursday at Coastal Alabama-South. First serve in Bay Minette is at 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs play in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament in Meridian next week. The three-day event starts April 19.
