PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has hired Amber Adcock to join head softball coach Kenneth Long's staff.
"When I was looking for a coaching position when I was graduating with my master's, I told my parents and everybody else it would be great to go to Mississippi Gulf Coast," Adcock said. "This program does a great job getting girls where they need to be to play at a four-year school."
Adcock played and coached at Delta State for the last seven years. She was a graduate assistant the last two years after a season as student assistant for player operations.
"Amber has great experience playing and coach at Delta State," Long said. "It was hard to get her here. She was established at Delta State. We're excited to have her here."
Adcock graduated with a master's in sports administration and management in 2018, and she finished her bachelor's in health, physical education and recreation in 2016.
As a player, she was a two-time Second Team All-South Region selection (2012, 2015), as well as a preseason All-Gulf South Conference pick (2014) and First Team All-GSC choice (2015). She was second-team All-GSC in 2012 and a three-time GSC All-Tournament Team member (2012-14).
She played her high school softball at Brandon, where she helped the Bulldogs win the Class 6A slow-pitch state championship in 2010.
