MGCCC jumps to 6th

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast surged all the way to sixth in the latest NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings released Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs (9-5) are up nine spots in the poll. They swept a doubleheader from Northwest in their MACJC regular-season opener.

Gulf Coast is being led by Shelby Archer (Fr., Pearl River Central/Picayune), who is tied for second in NJCAA Division II with seven home runs, and Kristen Cade (Fr., Harrison Central/Saucier), who is fourth among pitchers with 61 strikeouts.

The Lady Bulldogs are back in action Friday when Highland visits Ross-Smith Field from Kansas. The Scotties (4-3) moved up five spots to 14th.
