Lady Bulldogs fall to Bossier Parish

A pair of freshmen led Gulf Coast, but the Lady Bulldogs lost their season-opener 62-49 to Bossier Parish in Baton Rouge.

Shelli Thigpen (Fr, Wylie, Texas/Wylie) had 16 points, and Azaria Howard added 12 for the Lady Bulldogs.

"We're really young," first-year coach Hope Adams said. "My freshmen are going to have to lead, but they're still trying to grasp playing at this level."

The Lady Bulldogs play host Baton Rouge in its Lady Bears Classic at 1 p.m. Saturday. They play their first home game Monday against Bishop State.

Gulf Coast led Bossier Parish 27-24 at halftime.

"We played really well the first half," Adams said. "We came back after halftime and our intensity really went down. They hit us with some turnovers and we couldn't get back on track."
