Mississippi Gulf Coast scored all 22 points in the first quarter on the way to blowing out Delgado 54-19 Thursday in New Orleans.
"We played really well," Gulf Coast coach Hope Adams said. "We were very poised tonight. We tried to focus on our defense, communicating and keeping our hands up, being in the right areas in our zone. We attacked more on offense than what we have been doing. We got better tonight."
Eanna Sims (So, Jackson/Forest Hill) was the only Lady Bulldog player in double figures scoring with 12 points, and she had eight rebounds. Keiara Williams (So, New Orleans/Warren Easton) led Gulf Coast with 13 rebounds and added eight points.
Eden Duckworth (So, Heidelberg/Heidelberg) had nine rebounds off the bench.
The Lady Bulldogs led 22-0 after the first quarter and 36-6 at halftime.
"They took the game plan and really executed the first half," Adams said. "After that, we just started subbing in five in, five out."
Delgado falls to 1-7.
Gulf Coast (4-2) opens MACJC South play Monday when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Utica to play Hinds. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
They return home Dec. 6 when Delgado visits Perkinston at 5:30 p.m.
