PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast led for much of Thursday's game against Meridian at the Weathers/ Wentzell Center, but the Lady Eagles pulled away late for a 74-67 victory.
MGCCC falls to 5-6, 0-3 MACJC South. Meridian is 10-2, 3-0.
Gulf Coast used a 15-3 run that started in the first quarter to take an 18-10 lead with nine minutes left in the second. The Lady Bulldogs led 32-28 at halftime.
The teams were tied at 51 after three quarters, and Gulf Coast answered Meridian baskets before taking a 62-59 lead with 6:02 to play on a 3-pointer by Taylor.
The Lady Eagles scored the next 11 points over the next 3:38 to seize control of the game and made four straight free throws in the final 19 seconds to clinch it.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Decatur on Saturday to play in a snow-delayed game against East Central. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. Gulf Coast's next home game is Monday when Jones County visits.
