Lady Bulldogs lose to Lady Warriors

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast charged out of the locker room strong Thursday night, but East Central was able to reel the Lady Bulldogs in a claim a 75-64 victory at the Weathers/Wentzell Center.

 

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Shelli Thigpen (Fr, Wylie, Texas/Wylie) with 15 points. Eanna Sims (So, Jackson/Forest Hill) had 14, with Breannah McCullah (Fr, Edwards/Raymond) adding 12 and Azaria Howard (Fr, Richland/Richland) 10.

 

Gulf Coast (6-13, 0-10 MACJC South) had an early 12-0 run to take its first double-digit lead three minutes into the game. The Lady Bulldogs scored the first eight points of the second quarter to go up 32-18 two minutes into the half.

 

The Lady Warriors (11-8, 4-6) chipped into the lead and trailed by three at half. They seized control of the game with a 15-4 run in the middle of the third quarter.

 

Gulf Coast returns to action Monday on the road at Meridian. Tipoff is at 5:30. The Lady Bulldogs' next home game is Feb. 19, which will be Sophomore Night against Pearl River.
