Mississippi Gulf Coast clawed back from an eight-point halftime deficit to take a fourth-quarter lead but couldn't hold it, falling 64-62 in the season finale at Southwest.
Briana Thompson (Fr, Jackson/Wingfield) added 11 for the Lady Bulldogs.
Gulf Coast (6-17, 0-14 MACJC South) trailed 31-23 at halftime but surged past Southwest with about three minutes left in the third quarter. Sims' three-point play cut the deficit to two, and buckets by Eden Duckworth (So, Heidelberg/Heidelberg) and Thigpen gave the Lady Bulldogs a lead.
Southwest bounced back, however, and too a 44-41 lead into the fourth quarter. The lead expanded again to eight, but Gulf Coast fought back and got it to within the final margin with eight seconds left. The Lady Bulldogs were unable to pull even.
