Mississippi Gulf Coast missed a pair of tiebreaking free throws in the closing seconds of regulation at Delgado on Thursday and lost 51-50 in overtime.
Kayla Simmons (Fr., Brandon/Brandon) led the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points and 18 rebounds off the bench. Allison Martin (Fr., Edwards/Raymond) had nine points, also off the bench, and Mia Goolsby (Fr., Greenville, S.C./Legacy Early College) and Nakendra Owens (Fr., Port Gibson/Port Gibson) added eight each.
Gulf Coast (2-3) trailed 11-10 after 10 minutes, and 21-20 at half. The Lady Bulldogs erased a three-point deficit by scoring the first six points of the fourth quarter to lead 38-35.
Delgado improves to 2-7. The game was played at the Alario Center in Westwego because of water damage to the Dolphins' home gym.
Gulf Coast returns to action Saturday with a trip to play Coastal Alabama-South. Tipoff in Bay Minette is set for 2 p.m.
