PERKINSTON — It took a little extra time, but Mississippi Gulf Coast is officially in the MACJC Women's Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2013.
"I'm relieved," said Lady Bulldogs coach Hope Adams.
After the four-team logjam for second place in the South Division was broken, Gulf Coast (13-8, 9-5) earned the three-seed. The Lady Bulldogs will play the North No. 2 seed, Northeast (15-7, 8-4).
Tipoff Monday in Ellisville will be at 7:30 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://www.nemcctv.com/black-channel.
The winner advanced to Wednesday's semifinal against the Jones-Mississippi Delta winner. The semifinal starts at 5:30 p.m.
The championship game will be Friday at 5:30 p.m.
In the early stages of scouting, Adams has particular familiarity with one Northeast player. Dayzsha Rogan averages 19.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 4.0 steals per game.
"I know they have a really good point guard," she said. "She played on an AAU team I coached when I was up there. They're a well-coached team.
"We're playing really well. If we come out and play Gulf Coast basketball ball, and lock-in to the fact that it's tournament play, win-or-go-home, I think we'll be fine."
