Mississippi Gulf Coast trailed twice in the second half at archrival Pearl River, but rallied twice to earn a 2-2 tie in Poplarville.
The last goal came on a penalty kick by Erin Longsden (So., Droylsden Academy/Manchester, England) with 30 seconds left in regulation.
"We've been on the other end of this, so it feels good for something to go in our direction," Gulf Coast coach Jackie Rhodes said. "We tied, which doesn't really help us in the standings, but it felt good to continue to fight back in the game."
Neither team scored in overtime, which means that the Lady Bulldogs are 4-5-2 overall, 1-3-2 MACJC South. Pearl River is now 3-0-3 in division and 6-0-4 overall.
Gulf Coast still finds itself in a battle for the third playoff spot in the South.
PRCC scored in the third minute, and Gulf Coast wouldn't equalize until the 66th minute. Jess Shepherd (So., Parrswood/Manchester, England) found Casey LaFontaine (So., Pass Christian/Pass Christian) with a cross for her third goal of the year.
Twelve minutes later, the Lady Wildcats had a 2-1 lead and it wasn't until 30 seconds were left in regulation that Gulf Coast won a penalty and Longsden scored her second of the year.
Gulf Coast returns to action Tuesday when Southwest is scheduled to visit Perkinston at 5 p.m. Check mgcccbulldogs.com for any changes that might result from severe weather expected this weekend.
