MGCCC women get ready for Jones

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast rebounded from its first MACJC loss of the season Saturday, beating Marion Military Institute 9-0 after losing to Meridian earlier in the day.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-1 MACJC) have another tough task ahead of them. Jones County (3-0) visits the MGCCC Tennis Complex at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

"Jones has a solid team," Gulf Coast coach Gary Bourgeois said. "We played them in the fall and they handled us pretty well."

He said the Lady Bobcats have a good international player and depth. The Lady Bulldogs will have to be at the top of their game to defeat them, something that wasn't the case the last time the teams met.

"We were just coming off four days in Meridian in 100 degree weather at the ITA Regional, so we were pretty beat up," Bourgeois said. "It wasn't a real, true indication of how we'll match up with them."

Paulina Estrada continues to lead Gulf Coast. She won the ITA Regional singles and teamed with Katie Robinson to win the doubles.

Estrada has yet to lose a singles or doubles match this fall.
