Bio

Chris Diep is in his second season of his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater with Gulf Coast headed into the 2026 season.

In his first season, he made a big impression, earning the ITA Junior College Men’s Tennis National Assistant Coach of the Year award. The men’s team finished ninth at the NJCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Tournament in Florence, S.C., the best in school and MACCC history. The Bulldogs were 9-1 for a third straight season in conference play, finishing 12-3 overall.

The women finished 12th at the national tournament in Tyler, Texas, for the third straight season. They went 12-2 overall and 8-1 for an MACCC runner-up finish.

Diep was a freshman on the Bulldogs team that went undefeated in MACJC regular-season play, finished second at the 2015 MACJC/Region 23 Tournament and advanced to the NJCAA Championship. In his sophomore year, the Bulldogs were runners-up in the MACJC/Region 23 Tourney and finished 16th at the national event. Diep competed at No. 3 doubles and at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles.

Diep was head coach at Biloxi High for two years before returning to Perk and has been a private tennis coach since 2017. Biloxi was also his alma mater, and he was a four-year starter at No. 1 doubles and team captain his last two years.

After earning his associate’s degree from Gulf Coast, he finished his bachelor’s in marine biology from Southern Miss. Diep, who also worked for the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources for three years, completed his master’s in teaching in 2024.

Diep was an NJCAA All-Academic Superior Achievement and Distinguished Academic All-MACJC winner at Perk. 

He and his wife, former MGCCC tennis player Katie Robinson, have two children, Danny, 3, and Ella, 1.
