PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast's women's soccer team has developed a habit over the last few weeks.
The Lady Bulldogs play well in the first half, then things turn sour the last 45 minutes.
The script remained the same Tuesday, when Meridian scored three unanswered goals in a 15-minute span of the second half on the way to a 3-1 victory.
"When we're good, we're good, and when we're bad, we're not very good," Gulf Coast interim head coach Jackie Rhodes said. "That's the bottom line defensively. We made silly mistakes like tripping over our own feet in front of goal."
The Lady Bulldogs fall to 1-6 overall, 1-3 in MACJC South play. Meridian moved a game ahead in the standings at 2-2 in division, 3-3-1 overall.
Effie Morrison scored twice for Meridian, with Kendrianna Cole adding another.
Madi Giese scored a penalty kick with 18:50 left for the final margin.
"It's disappointing because we played so well in the first half," Rhodes said, "then give the game away in the second half."
Gulf Coast returns to action Saturday when Southwest visits. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
