Behring, Laiche named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Ludvig Behring and Madison Laiche have been named Bulldogs of the Week for April 14-20.

Behring, a sophomore from Sollentuna, Sweden, won his first collegiate tournament to lead No. 1 Mississippi Gulf Coast to another MACCC championship. He shot 2-under, and Gulf Coast won by three strokes for their third straight conference crown.

Laiche, a freshman lefty from Luling, La., shut down No. 16 Pearl River with a four-hitter, winning 2-1. The only run she allowed was a solo home run.

Also nominated:

Kaden Irving, a sophomore corner infielder from Gautier, drove the ball all over and out of the park during a 2-2 week for Mississippi Gulf Coast. He batted .538 with two home runs and three doubles, good for a 1.231 slugging percentage.

Irina Sanford, a sophomore outfielder from Lucedale, went 4-for-6 in a sweep of No. 16 Pearl River. She went 3-for-3 in a 9-7 win and added another hit in the 2-1 win.
