Gulf Coast remains No. 7 in latest NJCAA rankings
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast remains at No. 7 in the NJCAA rankings released Tuesday.
The Bulldogs waxed archrival Pearl River 41-10 at A.L. May Memorial Stadium to improve to 6-1 on the season. The victory extends the decade-long streak of Top 20 rankings to 135 weeks.
Gulf Coast travels to No. 14 Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday. Kickoff in Wesson is at 7 p.m.
Gulf Coast is one of only two teams (Butler, Kansas) to appear continuously in the poll since Sept. 27, 2005. The Bulldogs have now appeared in the top 10 for 111 of those weeks.
The school has spent eight weeks ranked first and 47 in the top 5. The team has gone 93-21 (.816) over the span.
There are three other MACJC schools in the Top 20 this week. Northwest is fourth, East Mississippi is eighth and East Central is 20th.
