No. 14 Bulldogs go 2-for-2
No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast got its first two wins at the MACJC/Region 23 Men's Tennis Tournament on Wednesday in Tupelo, thanks to Austin Vos and Cole Wagoner.
Vos (So., Perth Australia/Applecross) defeated Southwest's Daniel Espinosa 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of No. 2 singles, and Wagoner (Fr., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) beat Itawamba's Sergio Garcia in three sets.
They play together in No. 1 doubles on Thursday and join the rest of their teammates in the singles action in the quarterfinals. Four Bulldogs singles players earned top seeds: Evan Chubb (So., Biloxi/St. Patrick) at No. 3, Patrick Roth (Fr., Pascagoula/Resurrection) at No. 4, Wesley Fontaine (Fr., Biloxi/Biloxi) at No. 5 and Anthony Schloegel (Fr., Gulfport/St. Patrick) at No. 6.
Vos and Wagoner are the No. 1 seed in No. 1 doubles, as are Chubb and Roth at No. 2.
