Bond, Ladner earn All-MACCC honors

ELLISVILLE — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Kyle Bond and Orren Ladner picked up All-MACCC honors during ceremonies Thursday at the NJCAA Region 23 Men's Tennis Tournament.

The Bulldogs also picked up their MACCC runner-up plaque.

Eight players from the 11-team conference were named All-MACCC.

Gulf Coast, Jones and Meridian each had two players.

Bond, a sophomore from Wiggins, went 9-1 in conference singles matches and 8-2 in doubles.

"Kyle is one of the most improved guys I've seen on a tennis court in a while," Gulf Coast coach Sam Blackburn said. "He's playing the best tennis of his life right now. He's worked hard and elevated his game. I'm so proud of him. He's tough to beat, and he's an incredible student, as well."

Ladner is a sophomore from Perkinston. He went 7-1 in singles and only lost once in the conference in 10 doubles matches.

"He started out the year not playing his best but has risen up and is playing great tennis right now," Blackburn said. "He's tough to beat. I'm proud of him. He's an outstanding young man and student, as well."
