Women’s Region 23 bracket set
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast now has its full road map in the NJCAA Region 23 Women's Basketball Tournament.
The fourth-seeded Bulldogs will play in the quarterfinals Wednesday at Dantzler Arena at 6 p.m. They'll face the winner of Monday's game between No. 12 East Mississippi and No. 5 Coahoma at Clarksdale.
Gulf Coast finished the regular season with an 11-3 record in MACCC play to earn a four-place finish in the conference. The Bulldogs are 16-5 overall, and beat East Mississippi twice during the regular season. They won a non-conference game 62-47 in the MGCCC Thanksgiving Classic, and closed out the regular season with a 61-49 victory in Scooba on Thursday.
Coahoma (15-10) beat Gulf Coast 55-47 in Clarksdale in January. Gulf Coast shot a woeful 24.6 percent from the field, including 1-of-14 from the 3-point line, in that game and had only five assists.
The semifinals will be played at Mississippi College's A.E. Wood Coliseum on Saturday, March 4. The championship will be decided the following day.
