Redmond’s outburst wins MACCC Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's James Redmond helped spark the Bulldogs to an offensive renaissance last week. For those efforts, he earned MACCC Player of the Week honors in men's soccer.

His award was announced by the conference Tuesday after voting by the league's sports information directors.

The sophomore from Bremen, Germany, had 2 goals for in a 5-3 win at Copiah-Lincoln. He added a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over Southwest Mississippi.

Redmond is tied with teammate Fabien Barker (Fr., Madison/Madison Central) and a Co-Lin player with five goals for the MACCC lead. Barker won the league weekly honor earlier this season.

Redmond is eligible for NJCAA weekly honors. Winners will be announced Tuesday.
