Gulf Coast hosts 9 golf teams
PERKINSTON — Fresh off a dominant performance at the NJCAA Tournament Preview, Mississippi Gulf Coast will host its MACCC golf event Monday and Tuesday.
The MGCCC Fall Invitational will be played at Windance Country Club in Gulfport with 10 teams participating.
The Bulldogs are ranked fifth in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll, but they sit atop the Golfstat rankings. The coaches poll predates Gulf Coast's 34-stroke win at the NJCAA Preview in Joplin Mo., last week.
Meridian (6th Golfstat, 6th coaches) and Northeast (7th Golfstat) are the other top-10 teams in the field.
As usual at the MGCCC tournament, there will be competition from outside the MACCC. Rend Lake, a perennial NJCAA Tournament qualifier from Illinois, will participate. The Warriors are 22nd in the Golfstat ratings.
Gulf Coast has won the last four MACCC portions of its tournament, including in the spring this year when COVID pushed the entire schedule back.
