No. 19 MGCCC wins opener easily

No. 19 Mississippi Gulf Coast opened its 2020 men's tennis season successfully Friday, downing No. 21 East Central 7-2 at Decatur.

Gulf Coast dropped single matches in doubles and singles, with the Nos. 3-6 singles players dropping only nine games in their eight sets. The Bulldogs' Patrick Roth (So., Resurrection/Pascagoula) won his No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-1.

Seth Macute (Fr., St Joseph's Nudgee College/Brisbane, Australia) and Wesley Fontaine (So., Biloxi/Biloxi) teamed to win their No. 2 doubles match, and Clint Verrett (So., Gulfport/Gulfport) and Raymond Lam (Fr., Biloxi/Biloxi) won easily at No. 3.

The Bulldogs head up the road to play No. 22 Itawamba on Saturday. First serves in Fulton are set for 11 a.m.
