Gulf Coast will spread the workload at MGM Park

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast heads into Tuesday's doubleheader with Alabama Southern at MGM Park in Biloxi riding a five-game win streak.

The Bulldogs (15-7, 6-2 MACJC) have won five in a row, but coach Rodney Batts is looking at the big picture.

"It's good to have a win streak, but I'm not worried about that as much as continuing to play well," he said. "That's not a concern. Guys have worked hard and they deserve the opportunity."

Batts said he expects his normal midweek starting tandem of Chris Crosby and Irby Dossett to head out to the hill, but they will be conditioning and maintenance outings.

It's also an opportunity to keep the bullpen depth sharp.

"We're going to mix both games up and throw several different guys," Batts said. "There's a few guys who haven't been on the mound in a couple weeks. We're going to need all of them during the course of the season."

Similarly, the lineup will see some turnover during the games.

Alabama Southern comes to Biloxi with a 9-21 record. The teams had a doubleheader scheduled earlier in the season that was rained out.
