Brian Lane wins MACJC Player of the Week
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast catcher/designated hitter Brian Lane has been named MACJC Player of the Week.
Lane batted .667 and drove in six runs in a perfect 4-0 week for Mississippi Gulf Coast. It came a week after he hit poorly in a four-game stretch.
"He kept working at it. He struggled and wasn't' himself for a couple of series, but he spent time in the cage," Gulf Coast coach Rodney Batts said. "We talked with him about a few things, but the biggest thing is he got good pitches to hit and wasn't swinging at stuff out of the zone."
He had multiple hits in each game, including going 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the second game against Hinds. In the opener against Hinds, he drove in three runs with two hits, including a double.
He went 4-for-7 in a sweep of Coahoma. He is hitting .373 for the season.
