MGCCC plays at D’Iberville on Tuesday

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast travels to a different venue for another home game Tuesday, heading to D'Iberville High School to take on East Central.

When he was looking at venues to fill in the gaps when MGM Park wasn't available while Ken "Curly" Farris Field is getting a new grandstand, Bulldogs coach Rodney Batts said he wanted a good facility nearby.

"Their field is nice. It's well taken care of," he said. "It'll be a good atmosphere for our guys to play there."

The doubleheader starts at 4 p.m.

Gulf Coast will play its last game at MGM Park on April 27 when Copiah-Lincoln visits. Tickets for that game are available at http://mgcccbulldogs.com/MGMtix.

Gulf Coast (19-15, 9-9 MACJC) is in eighth place in the conference, two games in front of Itawamba for the last playoff spot with 10 to play.

The Bulldogs will face a tough task against the Warriors, who are second at 27-13, 15-7.

"They're gonna be solid in every aspect," Batts said. "They're going to pitch it very well. They'll have guys to go to in the bullpen. Offensively, they'll do things differently than other folks."

He expects East Central to play the small game, stealing, bunting and hitting-and-running.

Brian Lane has raised his average to .411 during an 11-game hit streak. He had three hits at Northwest on Sunday, including a game-tying home run in a 2-1 win in the nightcap.
