Gulf Coast entertains MMI on Wednesday

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast plays for the second time at the new stadium at Ken "Curly" Farris Field on Wednesday, welcoming Marion Military for a doubleheader.

 

First pitch is at 2 p.m.

 

The Bulldogs (10-2) had their 10-game win streak snapped in a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Illinois Central on Saturday. They will face a Tigers steam that has won its last four to improve to 9-3.

 

Gulf Coast is being led at the plate by catcher Logan McGrew (Fr., Sumrall/Sumrall), who is hitting .455. Second baseman Champ Davison (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) is batting. 429, and Chase Rhodes (So., St. Stanislaus/Bay St. Louis) is hitting .393.

 

Sam Taylor (So., New Hope/Columbus) leads the team with 10 RBI, followed by Rhodes' nine.

 

Chris Crosby (R-So., Harrison Central/Gulfport) and Josh Lewis (Fr., Theodore/Theodore) are the expected starters. Crosby is 2-0, and Lewis has a 0.96 ERA.
