Bulldogs clinch East Central match
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast's men's tennis team did enough to clinch its match at East Central on Monday before darkness forced the suspension of play.
The Bulldogs (2-0 MACJC) were leading 5-1 on a windy day with gusts over 25 mph at Decatur. Two matches were in progress, and one was still left to play. The other matches will be completed when East Central visits Perkinston on March 15.
Skyler Flowers and Sam Blackburn won No. 1 doubles, defeating Will Stuart and Jon Jimenez 8-2. At No. 2 doubles, Noah Tippen and Brennan O'Keefe downed Devin Skinner and Cole Duty 8-3.
In singles, Flowers, Blackburn and Tippen won in straight sets.
The Bulldogs return to action Feb. 26 when the Troy junior varsity visits Perkinston. They play their next MACJC match Feb. 27, traveling to Meridian.
