Owensby named PING All-American, All-Freshman
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Jayden Owensby has won a pair of prestigious postseason awards announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
He was named to the PING All-American Second Team while also earning a spot on the GCAA All-Freshman Team.
Owensby, from Hernando, finished the year 10th in the Clippd National Collegiate Golf Rankings. He won the Hubert Tucker Award for the lowest stroke average in MACCC play, and his 73.09 average in all rounds was the 18th-lowest in school history. He earned a spot on the All-MACCC First Team.
Owensby had three top-three finishes and five more in the top 10, including tying for medalist at the NJCAA Gulf South District. He also lost a playoff for the Lou Hart Invitational top spot.
He will be transferring to NCAA Division II Columbus State to continue his collegiate career.
