Jones, Bako named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Natalie Jones and Jan Bako have been named Bulldogs of the Week for April 13-19.
Jones, a sophomore catcher/third baseman from Lucedale, batted .533 during a 2-2 week for Gulf Coast. She had a double and drove in three runs, getting three hits in both games of a sweep of Baton Rouge.
Bako, a freshman from Ostrava, Czech Republic, prevailed in an epic match to clinch Gulf Coast's NJCAA Region 23 championship over Jones. He won 6-7 (5), 7-5, 7-5 to give the Bulldogs a 5-4 victory over the Bobcats. Bako also won all three of his No. 2 doubles matches with Warren Hudson.

Caroline Batson, a sophomore from Wiggins, went 1-0 with a 2.21 ERA in two appearances for Gulf Coast last week.
Logan Jensen, a freshman from Diamondhead, edged teammate Paul Hoefer to win the MACCC Championship. They helped lead Gulf Coast to a fourth-straight conference title, winning by 13 shots over Jones. Jensen shot 4-under in the 36-hole event.
Jayden Madison, a freshman right-hander from Petal, didn't allow a run in 5.1 innings of relief work, striking out nine.
Erimel Rosado, a sophomore shortstop from Dorado, Puerto Rico, batted .417 with a home run, two doubles and two RBI during a 2-1 week for Gulf Coast. He went 5-for-9 in a doubleheader at Copiah-Lincoln.
