Hernandez, Buford, Bako, Hudson named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Angel Hernandez, Ryland Buford, Jan Bako and Warren Hudson have been named the Bulldogs of the Week for May 11-17.

The four men's tennis players became the first Bulldogs to win championship finals at the NJCAA Tennis Championship, leading their team to a third-place finish. That was the best finish ever for a Gulf Coast team.

Hernandez, a freshman from Puebla, Mexico, and Buford, a sophomore from Gulfport, won the No. 1 doubles championship with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 win over a duo from Wallace State.

Bako, a freshman from Ostrava, Czech Republic, and Hudson, a freshman from Ocean Springs, took home the No. 2 doubles title by beating another Wallace State pair 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.
