Parish, Tanner named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Duran Parish and Breyona Tanner have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Feb. 2-8.
Parish, a sophomore point guard from Biloxi, controlled the game in two wins for Gulf Coast, averaging 28.0 points, 8.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals. He had 29 points while shooting 5-for-7 from the arc in an 85-68 win over Mississippi Delta, narrowly missing a double-double with nine assists. In a 97-69 win at East Mississippi, Parish had 27 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals. He averaged 60 percent on 3-point attempts for the week.
Tanner, a freshman right-hander from Hurley, didn't allow an earned run in two appearances and beat No. 15 Central Alabama 9-2 with a five-hitter. She also threw 1.2 innings of hitless relief in a 9-2 loss to No. 11 Chipola.

Taelar Felton, a sophomore point guard from Clinton, averaged 14.5 points, 2.5 steals and 2.5 assists off the bench during a 2-0 week for first-place Gulf Coast. In a 60-39 win against Mississippi Delta, she had 11 points and four steals. Felton had 18 points and four assists in a 61-53 win at East Mississippi.
Lexi Patterson, a freshman third-baseman from Ackerman, slugged two home runs and had two doubles in a 3-1 week for Gulf Coast at the Chipola Visit Dothan Invitational. She went 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBI in an 11-3 win over Wallace-Dothan and slugged a home run with two doubles in a 14-1 win over Lurleen B. Wallace, driving in three.
Anthony Tanner, a freshman center fielder from Hurley, batted .444 with a home run, a triple and eight RBI in four wins against Clark State. His big game was a 3-for-4 performance in a 17-5 win that included three hits, the homer and five RBI.
James Vines, a sophomore right-hander from Clinton, La., pitched four no-hit, shutout innings to beat Clark State. He struck out seven.
