Parish, Pugliese named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Duran Parish and Pia Pugliese have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Feb. 16-22.
Parish, a sophomore point guard from Biloxi, led Gulf Coast to a 2-0 week and flirted with a triple-double in the process. He had 29 points and four assists in an 80-75 win over Coahoma, then put up 10 points, seven steals and seven assists in an 88-67 win at Northeast Mississippi. Duran shot 65.2 percent from the field and made 9-of-11 free throws.
Pugliese, a freshman from San Juan, Argentina, won both her matches in No. 15 Gulf Coast's season-opening win at Southwest Mississippi. She teamed with Paige Baronich to win 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, then cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.

Naji Cain, a sophomore second baseman from Columbia, had his first two collegiate home runs in a 15-5 win over Reid State. He went 3-for-4 in the game and batted .500 for the week.
Taelar Felton, a sophomore point guard from Clinton, averaged 15.0 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals during a 2-0 week for Gulf Coast. She came off the bench and had 17 points and two assists in a 72-56 win over Coahoma. In a 47-41 win at Northeast Mississippi, Felton had 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. She nailed a late 3-pointer to help ice the victory.
Riley Hall, a freshman right-hander from Mobile, Ala., went eight innings to beat Southwest Mississippi 5-4. Allowing three runs, he struck out eight while allowing just four hits
Angel Hernandez, a freshman from Puebla, Mexico, won two courts in No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast's 9-0 sweep at Southwest Mississippi to open the regular season. He teamed with Ryland Buford to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
