Meet The Teams scheduled for Jan. 14

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will hold its spring Meet The Teams event Jan. 14 at Dantzler Arena.

The event starts at 6 p.m., and the school's golf, baseball, softball, tennis and eSports teams will be introduced. 

The Perkinston Campus bookstore will be open until 8 p.m. for fans to stop and pick up gear, and they'll have a pop-up store at Dantzler.

Coach Brad Thornton's golf team repeated as NJCAA champions last year and won two tournaments in the fall. The Bulldogs open their spring schedule Jan. 26-27 with a trip to Melbourne, Fla., to play in the Titan Winter Invitational.

Coach Zach Allen's baseball team went 38-19 last season, earning the first playoff berth in three years. The Bulldogs play their first game of the season at home on Jan. 30.

Coach Izzy Werdann leads her first softball team into action on Jan. 30 at the Mardi Gras Invitational in Youngsville, La. The Bulldogs' first home game will be March 10 when Hinds visits for an MACCC doubleheader.

Coach Sam Blackburn led the men's tennis team to the best finish ever for an MACCC team at the NJCAA Tournament, coming back home with a ninth-place finish. The women's tennis team also made it to the national tourney, earning a 12th-place finish.

Coach Courtland Johnson's eSports team won a pair of national championships in the fall semester, and the Bulldogs will be back in action in this spring.
