Patterson, Hall named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Lexi Patterson and Riley Hall have been named Bulldogs of the Week for March 30-April 5.
Patterson, a freshman third baseman from Ackerman, batted .462 during a 2-2 week for Gulf Coast. She had a home run, a triple and six RBI with hits and RBI in all four games. Patterson slashed .462/.500/1.346.
Hall, a freshman right-hander from Mobile, Ala., struck out 10 to beat No. 3 Jones 8-2. He scattered seven hits while improving to 5-1.
Also nominated:
Paige Baronich, a freshman from St. Martin, went 4-0 while Gulf Coast closed out the regular season with two wins on the road. She teamed with Pia Pugliese to pick up a pair of victories at No. 2 doubles and also got wins at No. 4 singles.
Cree Cunningham, a freshman from Wiggins, went undefeated as Gulf Coast finished the regular season with two road wins. He teamed with Connor Hartfield to win two No. 3 doubles matches and picked up two points with No. 6 singles victories.
McKenzie Smith, a freshman pitcher from St. Amant, La., struck out 11 batters in 11 innings during a 1-1 week for Gulf Coast. She lost 5-4 at No. 6 Jones, then won 11-1 while throwing a two-hitter at Mississippi Delta.
Anthony Tanner, a freshman center fielder from Hurley, batted .438 with two home runs and a grand slam during a 3-1 week for Gulf Coast. In an 8-2 win over No. 3 Jones, he hit a ground slam to break open the game in the sixth. In a 15-5 win over Mississippi Delta, he went 4-for-5 with two doubles. Tanner drove in six runs and slashed .438/.500/.750.
