No. 13 Bulldogs beat No. 10 Meridian
PERKINSTON — No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast came back in three pivotal singles matches Saturday to upset No. 10 Meridian 7-2 at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.
Austin Vos (Fr, Perth, Australia/Applecross), Evan Chubb (Fr, Biloxi/St. Patrick) and Reid Cudd (So, Wiggins/Stone) lost first sets but came back to win in third-set tiebreakers to propel the Bulldogs to their fourth win in as many days.
Gulf Coast also won against Copiah-Lincoln, Holmes and Itawamba during the streak to improve to 10-1. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in eight MACJC outings.
Travis Bell (So, Jackson/Calloway) also won a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, and John Murphy won in straight sets at No. 5.
Gulf Coast gets a day off before returning to the courts Monday when Wallace State-Hanceville visits Perkinston. First serve is at 1 p.m.
