Bulldogs even at 3-3 to start baseball season
PERKINSTON---Patrick McMahon's two-run walk off homer gave Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College a 3-2 win over Alabama Southern Friday in the first game of a doubleheader. The Bulldogs (3-3) dropped game two 9-4.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th with a man on, MacMahon drilled a 2-0 pitch for a homerun that scored Jacob Swiney and gave the Bulldogs the come-from-behind victory. Swiney finished the game with two hits while back-to-back doubles by Adam Cagnina and James Land in the bottom of the first got Gulf Coast on the board. Ryne Long started and held Alabama Southern to a coupel of runs in a little over six innings of work. Kolby Ross releived Long and got the win.
In the nightcap, the visiting Tigers scored five runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to secure the 9-4 win. The Bulldogs could only manage five hits in the loss while Alabama Southern pounded out 10 hits on four Bulldog pitchers.
Gulf Coast gets back in action Feb. 18 in a doubleheader with Jeff Davis C.C. at Curly Farris Field in Perkinston.
