Varnes claims MACCC Player of the Week
PERKINSTON — Landon Varnes helped lead Mississippi Gulf Coast to a big win in the season opener, and his sterling performance has earned him his first award of the season.
Varnes, a sophomore quarterback from Brandon, was named MACCC Offensive Player of the Week. The award was voted on by the conference's sports information directors.
He completed 28-of-41 passes for 426 yards and two touchdowns. Varnes also scored once on the ground.
