Lady Bulldogs look for revenge against Delgado

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast tips off the 2017 portion of its schedule Saturday when the Lady Bulldogs entertain Delgado at the Weathers-Wentzell Center.

Gulf Coast (4-4) fell to the Lady Dolphins (1-9) exactly one month before this rematch. The Lady Bulldogs will be looking for revenge, with tipoff at 4 p.m.

"You're playing on the road, which is difficult," Gulf Coast coach Jason Conner said. "We led the majority of that ballgame. I don't know if it was the Christmas break, the last game. You want to get that taste in your mouth."

The team returned to campus this week ahead of classes starting to get back up to speed. There have been two-a-days and tired legs trying to get the squad back in shape.

The lineup is expected to get a boost with Keiara Williams (6-1, Fr, New Orleans/Warren Easton) back up to full speed. She the leading rebounder with 8.3 per game and is second in scoring at 11.0 points.

Conner is hoping to see more defensive consistency out of his club.

"We're going to have a little more offensive punch," Conner said. "We've got to continue to guard and fight even when the shots aren't falling. That goes back to leadership. We just want to get better every day at both ends of the court."
