Lady Bulldogs look forward to coming home

PERKINSTON — Since Jan. 18, Mississippi Gulf Coast has played only one home basketball game.

The Lady Bulldogs return to the Weathers/Wentzell Center on Monday to start a season-ending stretch of four in six played in Perkinston. Tipoff against Copiah-Lincoln is at 5:30 p.m.

"It's been awhile," Gulf Coast coach Jason Conner said. "Certainly playing at home, it makes things a little easier. The rims are a little softer."

The game will be streamed online: https://livestream.com/BulldogLIVE/events/6961450.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-10, 1-7 MACJC South) will face a tough bunch of Lady Wolves (14-2, 7-1). They suffered their first division loss of the year Thursday, victims of a buzzer-beating 3-pointer against No. 17 Jones County.

"It is Co-Lin," Conner said. "We're going to have a great defensive challenge. They shoot it as well from five spots as anybody, and the five they bring off the bench, there's not much drop off."

Shaniqua Tobias (5-6, So, New Orleans/Warren Easton) is coming off a good night at Hinds on Thursday. She had 15 points and six rebounds in a 61-50 loss.

She and the rest of the Lady Bulldogs are hoping for some home cooking at Perk.

"We're glad to be at the house," Conner said. "We'll see what we can make work for Monday.
