Sims gets double-double in MGCCC loss

PERKINSTON — Eanna Sims had a double-double Tuesday for Mississippi Gulf Coast, but the Lady Bulldogs fell to East Central 77-68 at the Weathers/Wentzell Center.

Sims (5-11, Fr, Jackson/Forest Hill) had 16 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and three steals for Gulf Coast (6-6, 0-3 MACJC South).

Jordana Jolley (5-7, Fr, Brandon/Northwest Rankin) added 15 points, and Keiara Williams (6-1, Fr, New Orleans/Warren Easton) grabbed eight rebounds.

Gulf Coast led 25-17 after the first quarter, but the Lady Warriors (8-4, 2-1) chipped away in the third quarter and took the lead during a 9-0 run midway through the third quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs cut their deficit to 69-67 on a basket in the lane by Williams with 3:02 left, but ECCC scored nine of the last 10 points of the game to ice it.

Gulf Coast returns to action Thursday at Meridian. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs' next home game is Jan. 26 when Pearl River visits Perkinston.
