5 Bulldogs sign to play at Next Level

PERKINSTON — Five Mississippi Gulf Coast baseball players have signed to continue their college careers after completing their time as Bulldogs in the spring.

Gulf Coast coach Zach Allen has four pitchers and an infielder headed to the Next Level.

"I'm really excited about this group, and I'm proud of them," Allen said. "They worked really hard to get where they've gotten. In this day and age in college baseball, to have five guys sign early in the recruiting process is huge for where this program is getting into."

James Vines, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (NCAA Division I)

Vines, a right-handed pitcher from Clinton, La., was Gulf Coast's ace last season. He earned All-MACCC First Team honors after going 7-2 with a 2.78 ERA. His 93 strikeouts were third-best in the MACCC with 12.31 strikeouts per game ranking second.

"James is an ultimate competitor," Allen said. "I'm proud of him going to Western Kentucky; that's gonna be a great opportunity for him. We expect big things out of him come this spring. He's gonna be one of our starters, and we expect big things."

Griffin Wells, New Orleans Privateers (NCAA Division I)

Wells, a right-hander from Pascagoula, was a valuable two-way player last year for the Bulldogs who is being recruited for his work on the mound. He made 12 appearances with a 3.45 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 31.1 innings. Wells also drove in 10 runs at the plate.

"He decided this year he would be a pitcher only, and I think it really worked out for him," Allen said. "To sign with UNO, he's got a chance to go in there and throw some big-time innings for them. This year, we're expecting him to throw some big time for us as well."

Erimel Rosado, McNeese State Cowboys (NCAA Division I)

Rosado, a shortstop from Franklin, Tenn., played at Gulf Coast State College last season. In 12 games, he drove in three runs with a .238 average.

"He's a very plus-defender, and I'm excited to watch him play," Allen said. "He's gonna go in there right away and play shortstop every day. He'll do it here with us, as well. He's gonna make a difference for us this year, and I think he'll be a difference-maker at the next level because he's very, very good defensively."

Trey McDonald, Mobile Rams (NAIA)

McDonald, a right-handed pitcher from Moss Point, went 4-1 on the mound for the Bulldogs last year. He had 19 strikeouts in 26.0 innings

"Trey is another ultimate competitor," Allen said. "The guy just goes out there every day and competes. He loves throwing the ball, and we trust him because he's confident in himself. He signed at Mobile, which is close to home for him, so it checks a lot of boxes."

Walker Seaman, William Carey (NAIA)

Seaman, a right-handed pitcher from Grand Bay, Ala., made 17 relief appearances in 2025 with a 3-0 record and three saves. He had a 2.70 ERA and struck out 38 batters in 30 innings.

"He made a big improvement over the summer and got the velocity up, so he signed to go to William Carey," Allen said. "He's gonna throw some big-time inning for us this year. He was able to throw a lot last year for us and have some great numbers. I'm just excited to see him at the next level."
